Steve Browning, From Ireland to Italy

The Leinster Gallery is delighted to present the second solo exhibition by Steve Browning.

Steve Browning was born in London in 1955 and studied at the Leicester School of Art and Design in the UK. After graduating he worked in London as an advertising art director. During his advertising career Steve produced drawings to explain his ideas. His ability to communicate visually helped him to develop an understanding of composition and use of colour, which he puts to good effect in his paintings.

In 1995 Steve moved to Ireland to work in a Dublin advertising agency. Visits to Italy and the west coast of Ireland enhanced his interest in painting and when he had a painting accepted for the RHA 2003 summer exhibition he decided to paint full time.

Since then he has painted constantly, regularly visiting Italy for inspiration. Steve initially paints on 10 x14 inch boards. This allows him to paint on location so he can get a better understanding of the subject and produce paintings that are both spontaneous and fresh. He then uses these to produce larger paintings in his studio.
